Bribery in Pakistan can be found at every level, from every day affairs to the white collar workers and political authorities. Bribery is forbidden in Islam, the religion in Pakistan. Some of the officials are trying to clean up the corruption with bribery laws.

The country of Pakistan take legislative and administrative measures to eliminate bribery, corruption, and malpractices and prove punishment for these offenses.

Global anti-corruption act that prohibits bribery of foreign officials. Provides harsh penalties for Pakistan and other countries involved in bribery. Anti bribery conventions globally ensure corporate compliance with this law.

  • One of the many countries with the highest level of bribery along with Albania, Philippines and many more.
  • Bribery is common in political parties, the parliament or the country's legislature. The place that bribery occurs most is in the police department.
  • Many people have to pay bribes in order to obtain services.

Police Department 75 officers charged with bribery in the past 3 years.
Former Attorney General Latif Khan Khosa took $30 million to secure a court decision.
Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, guilty of accepting bribes worth $9 million. Sentenced to five years in prison and banned from holding a seat in Parliament for seven years.

Bribes In BusinessEdit

Bribery can be seen in getting electricity to work at an office. Some officials issuing permits expect bribes. Customs officers expect a bribe for the recovery of a persons luggage. Officers even issue bribes. Companies may even issue a bribe in order to get their business.

Effects of Bribery on BusinessEdit

It causes companies to lose their reputation. Bribery results in a big fine for the business, if prosecuted. Employees, managers, or salespeople of a business may offer money or gifts to a potential client in exchange for business. Some of the disruptions to the business when dealing with a bribery situation can cost the company.
